Are You Being "Bugged"?

Unfortunately this is becoming a greater possibility with advancements in technology and the ease by which sophisticated equipment can be obtained or even made.  Electronic listening devices usually involve simple radio transmitters, about 1/2 the size of a pack of chewing gum and a wire for the antenna.  The signal is sent to receiving equipment usually to a normal FM radio receiver tuned to a specific frequency.

Most often a recorder will be involved and found within only a short distance from the receiver.  Possibilities are endless and can involve microwave transmission, laser transmitter or satellite technology.  Some use a burst transmission that transmitters in milliseconds and is VERY difficult to catch.  If there is suspicion of a device in your home, office, or vehicle, start with a complete and detailed physical search.  Often these items can be found without the need for special outside assistance.  Look inside drawers, underneath tables and desks, and just about anywhere you think a small item could be hidden.

Watch out for "freshly" painted areas or recently repaired walls.  Try to trace the telephone line throughout the home, attic, or basement to the outside box.  See if "anything" is connected to the phone line that you shouldn't be there.  Try tracing the line from the home to the nearest pole or area junction box. Be careful not to damage any phone company property.  There are eavesdropping devices that can work from inside the outlets but be careful exploring them.  Also, removing electrical outlet covers without making sure the power has been shut down for that entire area is not advisable!

If you suspect your phone maybe bugged set up a "trick conversation" with someone trustworthy.  Talk about something very exciting or interesting and see if it "comes back to you."  Don't forget to use an outside phone for the set up so you can test this theory.  Now if a good physical search does not satisfy your suspicions, call us.  Aaron Investigations has high tech equipment that can search for radio, audio, and video signal, through walls and over telephone lines, or do the physical search for you.

Be aware there is now software out there that can be downloaded to your cell phone that can transmit your calls to a 3rd party.  This software is highly illegal but it is out there, you should be aware of who has access to your cell phone.
