Remember that all of the internet suppliers like AOL, AT&T, or Comcast will not call, email or message you asking for credit card information or passwords.  Unsolicited emails requesting money, your checking or credit card account information are also generally not to be trusted.  The old adage "if it sounds to go to be true it probably is", also holds true on the net.
